This CYRK... Polish circus poster is an original vintage/contemporary European art poster. It was created during the golden age of the world-renowned Polish School of Posters - 1945 (the end of World War II) through 1989 (the fall of Communism).
During this time, the Polish Government financially supported and encouraged poster art. Posters became the primary art form of the nation and the art of the Polish poster attained worldwide fame, becoming recognized as the best in poster art. Not since France's La Belle Époque (1890s) had artists achieved a worldwide reputation as the artists of the Polish School of Posters.
In collections throughout the world, including The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) (NYC) & the Library of Congress (Wash., DC) the Polish School of Posters changed contemporary poster design forever and set the standards others follow. CYRK posters with their most recognizable subjects and unmatched popularity are the quintessential posters of the golden era of the Polish School of Posters. Combining the art of painting with the succinctness of the poster, CYRK posters are more than powerful and creative artistic images; CYRK posters should be pondered and interpreted. (During the Communist era CYRK posters often conveyed subtle political messages.)
This CYRK poster is an original work of multiple fine art which was created under the auspices of and printed by an agency of the Polish government between 1965-1989 (most during the 1970s). The unframed poster measures approx. 27"x39", is linen-backed (as are all vintage fine art posters) and is available only in limited quantities.
Keep this Certificate with your poster for future reference and to document your CYRK.
